painting with only 2 colors - try these limited palettes
Have you ever tried using a limited color palette?
I’ve been experimenting with ultra limited color palettes, using only 2 colors.
You might be surprised by the range of colors you can achieve, by using just 2 colors, and mixing them.
Purple and yellow make a dramatic contrast, when placed next to each other.
And when you mix them, you can create beautiful shades of gold, brown, tan and gray.
Vibrant pthalo blue and soft peach create what I call a “vintage cyanotype” palette, that reminds me of the colors of early photography.
Deep hot pink magenta combines with teal to create a lot of contrast, and surprisingly naturalistic skin tones that are suitable for portrait paintings.
